One of our favorite events each school year at Ukarumpa International School is the Book Festival. During the two weeks of the Festival, students spend extra time reading. Each class has an individual student reading goal and a class reading goal (a certain number of hours spent reading during the Festival days). There's also an art contest. This year the contest was to design a bookmark based on a book or character. (Being a proud parent, I am required to mention that Cameron's entry won first place for 3rd grade.)
The Festival culminates in a final day of special activities, including the Book Parade, with each student (and teacher) dressing up as a favorite book character. Yesterday was the Book Parade day, concluding this year's Festival. This year was a special one for us, as it's the only year that all three of our kids will be at the Primary Campus together; next year, James is off to the Secondary Campus (where Joyce teaches) for middle school. Joyce and I really liked taking some time off at lunchtime yesterday to share the fun with the kids.
