Hercules moth

When we went out on the front veranda on Saturday morning, we found a near-perfect specimen of a male Hercules moth (Coscinocera hercules). These moths, named for their incredible size, are common in Papua New Guinea and we occasionally see them outside our house. But usually the Hercules moths we see have damaged, tattered wings. It was great to see one in such beautiful condition.
With Cameron's hand, for size comparison
